Cluden Park Racecourse to Reach National Standard

4th April 2023

Cluden Park’s racetrack is set to reach even greater heights as they announce their partnership with award winning, nationwide sports turf maintenance specialists, Green Options, whilst retaining 100% of existing staff

Maintaining some of Australia’s most renowned stadiums and racecourses, such as Sandown and Caulfield, the partnership with Green Options is the obvious next step since the courses $7 million upgrade in 2015.

‘This partnership brings to racing in Townsville the services of a nationwide business that has over 400 trade qualified employees and employs specialists within the field of Sports Turf Management, horticulture and reconstruction,’ says Cluden Park Chairman, Malcolm Petrofski.

‘This strategic partnership secures services well into the future for one of the most critical pieces of racing infrastructure,’ Mr Petroski added.

‘Long standing employees, some who have been with us in excess of 20 years, will take up employment with Green Options and continue their dedicated service to the racing industry, now supported with better access to machinery and technology, and will be assisted by Green Options’ expertise,’ said Mr Petrofski.

The track is already touted as one of the best in the state due its superb drainage capabilities and resilience to extreme weather – offering a consistent track all year round for Queensland’s best provincial and country thoroughbreds.

‘We’re excited to be entering this partnership with Cluden Park and can’t wait to work alongside their current team,’ said Tim Hoskinson, Green Options’ North Queensland Manager.

‘We can combine their local knowledge and experience with our own expertise, equipment and assistance,’ Mr Hoskinson added.

The partnership comes just in time as Cluden Park begins their preparations for the upcoming Winter Racing Carnival, whose dates were announced recently.

Festivities begin as per usual with the 2YO Classic (10 June), followed by an action packed two weeks of racing with Ladies Day (29 July), Guineas Race Day (6 August) and Townsville Cup (12 August).
