As the weather cools down here in Townsville, we gear up to the fashion event season with feature races days Julie Munro & Co Ladies Day and Ladbrokes Townsville Cup coming up fast. With a newly appointed fashions committee, industry-expert judges and carefully selected Winter Racing Carnival Ambassadors, this year’s fashions competition is looking to be better than ever.
We asked our ambassadors to share their race day fashion and beauty inspiration so you can put your most stylish foot forward.
Jerika Wheeler-Crispe
Self-taught event florist Jerika Wheeler-Crispe of The Thorny Florist, who put together the winter racing carnival photo wall installations, is a lover of all things extra.
When it comes styling a race day outfit Jerika says.
‘Go so huge and over the top with your accessories that you’re a public liability or go super minimalistic and let one of your other accessories take the front seat.
'Try colour blocking, and don’t be afraid to contrast your shades in an extreme way.
'Pair with a slicked high pony, a smokey eye and you’ve got a boot-down-the-door Shania Twain ‘let’s go girls’ moment.'
