Dress to Impress: Fashion Stakes Criteria Released

12th July 2021

'Don’t be afraid to make a statement! Whether it is with colour, texture or accessories. Be conscious of current trends with your outfit, but not by losing your own individuality.' - Drosia Parliaros, Head Judge.

You heard it here first ladies! We sat down with head judge Drosia Parliaros from Sia Model Management, to get the scoop on what she's looking for in a winner and what she's looking forward to on race day.

'I love going to the races to see what everyone is wearing and how they style their outfits. It is always the picture-perfect way to have a drink and catch up with friends.

'Winter racing carnival is one of the biggest events on the social calendar year. There is a huge interest within the community for races fashion and locals love to have fun with it. I think it is a fantastic opportunity for race enthusiasts to get dressed up and enjoy the social occasion.

When asked about the criteria she will be using to judge the Laser Clinics Australia Fashion Stakes Competition she revealed:

'There will be four categories: Classic Lady of Style, Contemporary Lady of Style, Best Dressed Gentleman and Millinery. We are awarding points for entrants who incorporate current trends, show their personality and of course, headwear and accessories are essential for ladies.'

For the guys, we will be looking for attention to detail, think about your accessories including but not limited to; hat, dress shoes, pocket square, cufflinks, bow tie and handkerchief. Remember your suit should fit well and be worn smartly.

When parading your look on the day, the judges will be on the lookout for entrants who are well-groomed and have a stage presence about them.

When asked what trends are her favourite Drosia confided:

'This season I am loving the layers, sleeves, longer lengths and the injection of pastel tones such as blush pink, powder blues, lilac, soft yellow and other pastels of course.'
